This page came to be from reading Cunt; a declaration to independence, by Inga Muscio. It's a pro-woman book, and in it is a section encouraging the reader to write her own womanifesto. A definition of who you are, what you believe--for me, sort of a list of rules/standards to live by. At first I thought I couldn't come up with anything to write, and had no clue how to go about it. Then I had a grand idea, and wrote my list as though giving advice-to-live-by to a young girl. Suddenly I found myself quite prolific, and here is what manifested, in no particular order:
Womanifesto!
Never let anyone tell you how to think, feel, interpret...anything!
Always trust your intuition!
Communicate to your fullest!
Support women businesses!
Women, don't be catty to each other, Respect and Honor each other!
Respect everyone, even if you don't agree with them!
Don't let female woman-haters discourage you!
Be strong!
Be independent!
Be yourself!
Never be afraid to ask how or why!
Encourage others!
Live Life!
Be responsible for yourself!
Don't do anything you don't want to!
Believe in yourself!
Love yourself!
It's okay to love things other people think are silly or stupid!
Be honest!
Be passionate (about something)!
Speak up for yourself!
Learn about other cultures!
Broaden your mind!
Give when you can!
Don't be reckless with other people's emotions or belongings!
Be reliable, dependable and trustworthy!
And the always forgotten, but still important Golden Rule:
Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you!
